Essex County Courthouse

Newark, NJ
Essex County Courthouse

This project involved the renovation and historical restoration of the 5-story, 125,000-SF court building designed by Cass Gilbert and constructed between 1902 and 1906. The project involved the complete replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as the addition of new sprinkler systems. Engineering services also included the design of a new chiller plant. Making this project even more challenging were the large murals and a substantial number of ornamental finishes throughout the building.
