Senior Electrical Engineer (PA E-02)

Role
Loring is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a proven interest in building design and sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals. The incumbent will work in-office daily from our Philadelphia office.
Primary Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
  • Perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash & fault current, lighting, and any other calculations required to support electrical design.
  • Prepare electrical construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings (in retail, office, multifamily residential, healthcare, and institutional market sectors).
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems.
  • Ensure design is consistent with the overall vision, and design schedules are maintained; work closely with the client and other design team members, including owners, architects, contractors, and members of other disciplines.
  • Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
  • Report writing and specification preparation.
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years professional experience in designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional building projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Previous Healthcare experience highly desirable
  • Previous electrical design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of the National Electric Code, and the International Building Codes.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
  • EIT required, PE preferred
  • Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
