Michael P. DesRochers, PE, LEED AP
Michael DesRochers (Mike D.) launched his engineering career as a summer intern at Loring in 1982, rising up through the ranks to take the helm as president in 2009. A business strategist with an MBA as well as a licensed engineer specializing in electrical and fire alarm systems, Mike D. is responsible for setting the firm’s direction and managing day-to-day operations. He takes an active role as the Principal-in-Charge on some of Loring’s most complex projects, with particular expertise in infrastructure upgrades, hospitality and historic restorations, and public sector work. A product as well as a proponent of Loring’s strong mentoring tradition, Mike maintains a highly visible and accessible presence with the firm’s next generation of leaders. His goal is to pay forward his love of the profession—the challenges and the fun—and instill a desire to create great projects.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (BAE) from Penn State University and a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University, and served for 25 years as adjunct professor at NYU’s School of Continuing Education. He is licensed in the District of Columbia, NY, NJ, NC and 10 other states. Mike is an avid skier, world traveler and theatre aficionado.
