“On-Call” Services at the World Trade Center

LORING was selected for the original electrical design of the World
Trade Center in 1964. Since completion of the facility in the early
1970’s up until the events of September 11, 2001, LORING provided
mechanical, plumbing and fire protection services, in addition to
electrical support, to the Port Authority and the tenant’s of the
facility. During this period, in addition to millions of square feet
of fit-up design, LORING was involved in many of the upgrades,
modifications and replacement projects at the complex, including
river water pumping system, condenser water risers, chilled water
risers, control system replacement, fire alarm system replacement,
addition of 13,200 kW
Standby
Generating Plant and associated distribution substations,
replacement of substation feeders, elevator emergency power
upgrades, broadcast antenna, security system, high pressure steam
systems, operations and control center, and many others, including
assistance in recovery from the 1993 terrorist attack. LORING served
directly for the Port Authority and for tenants in the building or
for the Port Authority indirectly, as a sub-consultant to an
architect.
