Washington Monument Site Lighting
Washington, DC

On the Washington Monument grounds at 15th Street, NW, Washington, D.C., LORING is providing construction documents and construction administration for the design of electrical distribution and a lighting control system for the new site layout, as well as the site security systems.

The security systems consist of controllable concrete bollards at entrance points to the monument site and power connection for remote controlled security cameras, which are monitored by the United States Park Police.

The lighting, which was designed by the project lighting consultant, consists of new lighting for the walkways, the flagpoles that surround the monument, and direct illumination of the monument itself.

The electrical distribution is derived from the existing monument electrical system located in an underground vault adjacent to the monument. A new electrical room was created in the vault in order to install the distribution and control equipment that is required.

LORING also provided power distribution design for the irrigation of the same site.
