New Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE) Building

Princeton, New Jersey

LORING provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for a new 46,000 sf, 3-story academic building. The Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE), serving both Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, is primarily focused on engineering for the business, commerce and industry serving both engineering innovators and entrepreneurs. The Department provides the required skills for students that want to become leaders in such fields as Finance, Information Technology, Management Consulting, Insurance, and Operations Planning. The building houses numerous computer modeling spaces, graduate break-out areas, high tech conference rooms and studios, technology classrooms, a lecture hall and a library. Sustainable design techniques have been incorporated for possible LEED Certification.  DOE Energy Model have been utilized to optimize HVAC systems and architectural elements. The proposed design reduces energy consumption by 40% when compared to ASHRAE Standard 90.1.
