 LORING
provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering
design services for the 3-story, 45,000 square-foot addition to the Duke
Divinity School at Duke University. The addition includes classrooms,
conference rooms, administrative space, gymnasium, and a 200-seat chapel. It
also includes additional faculty offices, community gathering space, rooftop
courtyard, refectory/café, bookstore, and large state-of-the-art lecture
halls with data and power outlets for laptop PCs.
Duke’s
central plant provides steam and chilled water to the addition. The HVAC
systems consist of a VAV system to serve offices and classrooms, and
dedicate single-zone, constant-volume air handlers for the chapel and dining
area.
